Fuyang Technician College

Fuyang Technician College, approved by the People’s Government of Anhui Province in 2012, was established in 2013 through the merger of seven units including five schools. After ten years of reform and innovation, the school grows from a school with less than 1,000 people to one of the country’s first-class technician colleges with 18,000 full-time students. Since it was founded, the school has regarded the important instruction of “practicing the integration of industry and education, school-enterprise cooperation, work and study, and the unity of knowledge and practice”put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping as the guidelines of running the school. It strives to build a platform for cultivating highly-skilled talents and attracting investments, shaping the model of “the principal centers around the factory manager, specialties around the industry, and teaching around production so that schools are like factories, classrooms like workshops, teachers like instructors, students like apprentices”. It has been recognized as the outstanding unit of the cultivation of skilled talents, advanced unit of making great contributions to the poverty eradication campaign in Anhui Province, and a training base for the WorldSkills Competition in China.

Fuyang Technician College has studied and implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instruction that “a highly skilled workforce has been a crucial factor in China’s manufacturing success and innovation”. It has actively carried forward the vocational education reform program of Fuyang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government so as to vigorously develop vocational education focusing on manufacturing industry, and create a brand of vocational education in Fuyang with local, pragmatic and open characteristics. Besides, it has actively cooperated with more than 100 enterprises such as the Second Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, JAC Group, Haoyuan Chemical Group, Northern Vocational Education Group, etc. The school has also established branches in cooperation with the governments of Jieshou, Funan, Yingshang, the city’s economic development zone and other counties and municipalities. It has explored the successful solutions to the structural contradictions of the enterprises in recruitment, which was published in People’s Daily in the 8th nationwide inspection led by the State Council. In 2022, the Reform Office of Anhui Provincial Committee of the CPC issued to the whole province the reform and innovation model of Fuyang Technician College, which was included in the Top Ten Reform Cases of Anhui Province in 2022. In 2023, Fuyang Technician College participated in the symposium on highly skilled talents chaired by State Councilor Chen Yiqin in Zhongnanhai and spoke at the meeting with Chinese and foreign reporters on the “cultivation of highly skilled talents” held by the State Council Information Office.

Through ten years of development, the school now has 542 mu and covers an area of 403,000 square meters, with 150,000 square meters of training space. It sets up 44 majors in five schools, which are electromechanical engineering, automobile engineering, business and trade services, information technology and pharmacy. Teachers and students have won more than 1,000 prizes in various types of skills competitions, and hosted the first Service-oriented Manufacturing Applied Technology Skills Competition in 2023 in Fuyang, which has attracted massive investment and demonstrates the city’s socio-economic development.
